Hello I'm Laure'n

A wife and a mother of two and the founder of Flour Atelier. My love for baking began long before this business-shaped by family, tradition, and the simple moments spent in the kitchen. What I create today is rooted in that legacy and led by faith. Thankyou for being a part of this journey- it truly means everything to me.

The Story Behind Flour Atelier

Flour Atelier (pronounced "at-tuh-lee-ay") was born from a lifelong love of baking-one that began in my earliest year, standing beside my grandmothers in their kitchens. On both sides of my family, baking was more than a skill-it was a way of serving others, and expression of care, and something passed down with intention.

One grandmother taught me the art of soft, homemade rolls, while the other shared her gift for pies. I can still remember visiting family in Colorado, walking into my grandparent's bakery tucked behind her home, where the scent of fresh bread and pies would fill the air and carry through every room. It was something you didn't just smell-you felt it.

And on the other side, I remember being in my grandmothers kitchen, watching in amazement as she made pan after pan of cinnamon rolls, always for others. It wasn't just the baking that stayed with me- it was their hands. You could see the years of work in them, the dough they had kneaded, the life they had poured into what they made. That kind of quiet dedication left a lasting mark on me.

Raised Holdeman Mennonite background, I grew up surrounded by home cooking, where everything was made from scratch and shared generously. Those early years shaped not only my love for baking, but the meaning behind it.

No matter where life has taken me, I've always found myself baking for others-family, friends, and my community. It's never felt like something I had to do, but something I was meant to do. Flour Atelier was created from that place-a desire to take something deeply personal and share it in a meaningful way.

The name itself reflects that heart. Atelier, meaning 'workshop' or 'studio', speaks to the artistry behind baking. To me, baking is just that-an art form. It's something created by hand, with patience, intention, and care. Flour Atelier is my space to bring that artistry to life, one piece at a time.

The foundation of this bakery was built in my Nanas kitchen. She taught me how to make cinnamon rolls, but more importantly, she showed me what it means to serve others with love. She spent countless hours baking for people, never expecting anything in return. Though she's gone, her legacy lives on through every recipe, every batch, and every family we get to serve.
Grandma Jul Baked pies for years, well into her later years-still serving others at 89 with the same love and care she always had. I remember her best in the kitchen, doing what she loved most. Though she's no longer here, her love, her recipes, and her spirit live on in everything I make. It's a legacy I carry with me every day.
